Would be nice if you add an option in the suggestion form to include Reciprocal links. With link check, If the link removed to suspend the listing.

thanks for the script. i've been looking for weeks to find a way to make a nice software file database that i can search. i'm a desktop support tech and needed an easy way to provide quick access to my install files. this did the trick.

I would like to suggest a feature request.

It would be handy to have the ability to mass import bookmarks.

For instance:
I upload a bookmark export from firefox and all the new links will come into an uncategorized category
I as an admin can place all the links into the right categories.

I create a .csv file where i have put all my bookmarks including category. I upload it to the website and it will start the import.

I am trying to use my yald directory as a social bookmarking site and want to simplify the proces of adding links.

so i hopp that in the futur version

first i hopp that visotor can suggest site in the index home site note wait go to categorie

1/can have multilangauge
2/one icon for any categorie ( the admin can add in cp a icon to categorie lake icon off sport to sport-categorie blog icon to blog-categorie .....)

3/adds i hopp that in admin cp can put code off adse (java or html) lake adsense and chose place where the adds wil be viewed

4/thumbnail off any site was add (i find this in othere script just you put the link off site and you have information about is lake discription and thumbnail)

5/new designe (i lake to but image in header not a letters)

somme othere fonction lake sugg site(admin can sugg a site)
site off the monthe-site off the week
send site to friend

I wanted to change the collations for "name" and " description" into UTF8:

ALTER TABLE  `links` CHANGE  `description`  `description` TEXT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL

and

ALTER TABLE  `links` CHANGE  `name`  `name` VARCHAR( 64 ) CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL

but MySQL gave these errors:

#1283 - Column 'description' cannot be part of FULLTEXT index 
#1283 - Column 'name' cannot be part of FULLTEXT index

You've done a great job with this program. These requests are some things I'd be able to use on my site, and maybe others could use them too.

Specific keywords for each category to be added to the keyword meta tag.

Show most popular (pages with most hits) on home page as well as most recent.

Allow user-decided prefixes for db table names for those of us who use the same db for more than one ap.

The ability to use a "suggested by" in the output of a link.

I also agree with the suggestions to add a character counter for the description.

No problems installing or with anything else, however I don't publicly use the default end-result links page. I am using YALD as a back end to to load up a db for a web page I've done my own php code for, and for this it works very well.

I found that the default color scheme in admin wasn't suiting what I needed; I kept thinking it was an error screen as I went back and forth between windows inputting links. An option to change the background color would be a nice addition. Also making the description optional would be helpful instead of having to remember to type in a space every time.

Other than those very minor points, it's a wonderful script. Thank you! B)-

Hi,

Found your script and it has enhanced my site admirably...

I would love to leave the credit tag on my site to YALD but my fear is that it will open the door to hackers...I am even wary of putting my site on your showcase for the same reason..

I do support the GNU philosophy but unfortunately it seems when showing the credit information it simply makes it easier for dirt bags to find a site using your code and practise their attempts to break the code.

As Sourceforge (et al) make it easy for me and the dirt bags to download your code, there is no secret to how your code is compiled or file references used and the dirt bags will find a way to break it...

I feel it better to mask the origin and I feel the same about any script I use and not yours in particular so please do not be offended..

I will make a contribution via PayPal (when I have some funds available) as I have found your code easy to install and adapt to my particular site requirement and there should be a reward for the effort you have put in..

Improve the actual method of searching (LIKE) with FULLTEXT (when two or more words, or a phrase), using a conditional.

Sample: [www.desarrolloweb.com]
(1 search word -> use LIKE) (several search words or a search phrase -> use FULLTEXT)

Suggestion: design a mini logo of YALD (the actual logo is not good por sidebar and footer). I have the actual logo in [andaluciamovil.es] but is too big (width) for my footer.

Is there a reason for the 255 limit on the description field? Is it mainly for speed?

Could this maybe be an option in the future? I know it means changing the table a bit, but I like the option of going a little higher if I need. I modified mine to be able to go a bit larger since my links repository will never bee all that big.

Not a major problem for me since I can modify it, but would be nice if I did not have to remember that everytime a new version came out.

search engines index the sitemap and get information about the full site easily.
